Llíria presents its new public-private tourist accommodation initiative

THE EVENT WAS PRESENT IN THE PRESENCE OF THE AUTONOMOUS SECRETARY OF TOURISM, FRANCESC COLOMER, WHO TODAY SIGNED THE ANNUAL COLLABORATION AGREEMENT WITH THE CITY COUNCIL

The mayor, Joanma Miguel, and the regional secretary for Tourism, Francesc Colomer, today signed the protocol of the collaboration agreement between Turisme Comunitat Valenciana and the Llíria City Council for the development of tourism promotion actions in the municipality through music during 2022.

The Generalitat contributes 60,000 euros financially so that the Llíria City Council can carry out different actions to promote the tourist product, through musical events such as the ‘eMe, Early Music of Edeta’ or the ‘LLUM Fest’.

Joanma Miguel has highlighted that the renewal, one more year, of this agreement “allows us to continue valuing our tourist offer through one of our great resources, music, as a UNESCO Creative City, and to merge this attraction based on an important agenda of events with others such as heritage and gastronomy”.

Tourist accommodation project
To reinforce this tourism promotion strategy, the Department of Tourism has used the day to present the new project that it intends to promote through public-private collaboration. Technical staff from the company Terra Urbe has explained the details of the tourist accommodation initiative “Albergo Diffuso La Vila”, a model born in Italy in the 70s and 80s to recover neighborhoods with social and urban marginalization but with great historical and architectural.

“Aware of the growing potential of our quality tourism proposal and given the lack of a sufficient supply of accommodation in our municipality, we want to promote this project that will serve to generate a lodging structure made up of houses with unique characteristics in terms of their historical identity, cultural and architectural, and restored for tourism, which will also offer a unique experience within the Vila Vella”, commented the Councilor for Tourism, Paco García.

Likewise, the mayor stressed that “it is a proposal that will generate synergies between local businesses and service providers, reinforcing economic activity in the municipality and stimulating, at the same time, the creation of new tourist activities, with the collaboration of the City Council and local actors”.

This type of integral tourism is based on the immersion of the visitor in the population, who stays in the same houses as the native people, buys in the same shops, and participates in local events and festivals.

The Llíria City Council will draw up a master plan that sets out the guidelines for the rehabilitation of the dwellings and the model for their tourist exploitation, so that they can also be of benefit to the owners and to the concessionaire managing the project.

The houses, located mainly in an area of no more than 300 meters, must have minimum accommodation infrastructures that meet the basic and adequate conditions of comfort, quality and habitability, while offering a series of complementary services by professionals from the lodging and tourism.
