Llíria to use the emblematic Ca Porcar building to house new youth facilities

THE CITY COUNCIL PRESENTED TODAY THE BASIC PROJECT FOR THE REHABILITATION OF THE SPACE, WHICH WILL HAVE A BUDGET OF 1.1 MILLION EUROS.

Mayor Joanma Miguel, accompanied by the mayor of Youth Vicent Lis and other members of the municipal government, today unveiled the basic project of rehabilitation and expansion of the historic building of Ca Porcar and its garden, for use as Espai Jove. This action is budgeted at 1.1 million euros.

The ground floor of the building will house rooms for study and group work, projections, IT, administration, a multi-purpose area, a rest area and service areas. The second floor will house a multi-purpose room, an office and restrooms.

The building will be expanded with the construction of a new volume, attached to the north facade and the perimeter walls of the plot, which will be developed around the garden and will house the multipurpose room and the administrative part, located next to the access to serve as reception. This new construction will be a light U-shaped building, in order to achieve the proper integration with the original and the garden.

Likewise, the entire outdoor space is redistributed to complement the uses of the building. The paved part of the terrace will be directly linked to the multipurpose room, so that activities can be carried out in this indoor-outdoor space. In addition, the part of the garden with the existing trees and new shrub species and the third space that houses the replica of the Roman mosaic of “The Twelve Labors of Hercules” will be maintained.

Mayor Joanma Miguel stressed that with this project “we want to expand the youth facilities of our city to bring the services of Espai Jove to other neighborhoods, and where we also intend to offer a new space for the youth of our town where they can socialize and carry out their activities.”

In the same way, “we will finally give a public use to Ca Porcar, an emblematic building of our town, with a project that is committed to sustainability and accessibility in its intervention”.

In this house, built in the second decade of the twentieth century, was found in 1917 the Roman mosaic “The Twelve Labors of Hercules”, which is currently on display at the National Archaeological Museum in Madrid, and of which there is a replica in the building.
