Holy Week in Lliria

In Llíria, Holy Week has been celebrated since the Middle Ages (fifteenth century). The events are organised by four confraternities: the Confraternity of the Blood of Christ, of Sorrows, of Jesus’ Prayer in the Garden and of the Holy Chalice.

The Confraternity of the Blood of Christ dates back to the sixteenth century and it is one of the oldest in the Valencian Community.

Friday of Sorrows; Palm Sunday; Holy Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday are the days when celebrations are held.

It must be noted that the head of the sculpture of Christ belonging to the Confraternity of the Blood of Christ dates back to the seventeenth century.
