The City Council of Llíria and the Parroquia de la Asunción sign a new agreement for the use of the Iglesia de la Sang

THE AGREEMENT, WHICH WILL BE VALID FOR 50 YEARS, ALSO INCLUDES THE TEMPLES OF BON PASTOR AND MARE DE DÉU

The mayor Joanma Miguel and the parish priest of the Asunción de Nuestra Señora de Llíria Vicente Cerezo, on behalf of the Archbishopric of Valencia, today signed the new agreement for the use and visitation regime of the church of La Sang. The agreement will be valid for 50 years.

The previous agreement dated from 2004 on the occasion of the reopening of the religious building, declared a National Monument in 1919, after its rehabilitation process. Among other novelties, this concert also includes the regulation of the use of the Bon Pastor and Mare de Déu temples, all of them located in Vila Vella and with an important artistic and tourist interest.

The first mayor, Joanma Miguel, has highlighted that the new agreement “is beneficial for both parties, but especially for the conservation and promotion of the historical heritage of our city, because it acquires a series of commitments aimed at promoting the cultural offer of Llíria”.

The City Council of the capital of Camp de Túria will be able to continue carrying out the cultural activities and tourist visits that it usually organizes in the temple, always respecting the traditional religious celebrations that are carried out in it.

On the other hand, the Consistory undertakes to request 1.5% Cultural from the Ministry to complete the second phase of urbanization around the building; draw up the master plans for the churches of la Sang, el Bon Pastor and la Mare de Déu, as well as request the necessary subsidies for their maintenance; and make the investments that contribute to dignifying the exterior urban environment of the three temples.

A monitoring commission made up of representatives of the City Council and the Asunción Parish, with a rotating presidency of both parties, will coordinate the proper application of the agreement and compliance with its stipulations.
